The CRR MERC amp has to be the most versatile and musical amp we’ve yet encountered and we’ve been through 50+ amps. This is the first amp we’ve heard that can do beautiful clean and any amount of gain without feeling that some compromises have been made anywhere. Unlike many small amps it does not sound hallow in any range of its frequency response. Once in it’s sweet spot in regard to the High and Low volumes, which can be mixed, one can just adjust the gain by switching the Boost from 1-3 and then turn on the series (cascading) switch to go into Overdrive and roaring Lead tones. The extremely effective and versatile EQ can be tuned to taste to go from smooth to bitey, fat or scooped tones with ease and very predictably.
It is has quite a lot of compression and therefore is very “touch sensitive” without going into high volume jumps. But it never sounds flat, it has still lots of dynamics and is one of the most fun amps to play.
The amp is voiced in a way that the harshness and fizz that is audible in many vintage amps is absent here, but it does not sound “filtered” or like it is lacking any frequencies. It is often compared to being Marshally in tone, but we would argue it rather sounds like a great Marshall on a record, where it has received EQ to tame the highs/fizz and lows and where compression has been added. This amp does great studio sound out of the box.
If we could have one amp in the studio, this might as well be the one.

Came for the cleans, stayed for the Drive
I bought this set b/c I was so happy with the essentials. There's a bit of set up on Tonex where I had to match Amalgam's included Cab with the presets containing the DI. I would not recommend hunting for other IR's, these are perfect. The cleans are beautiful but what really surprises are the gain captures. They have ended up being my favorite for Marshall tones.
Now I don't have to buy the amp
Such excellent captures, I also bought the DI set b/c I liked it so much. It's astonishing that the captures work so sell across different guitars.

I've purchased several amp captures from different sources searching for one amp that will do it all for me in a live setting. This amp has enough variety to cover my needs and sounds and feels like a real amp. Better than great, and it's the only amp in my repertoire.
Damn!
I wasn't expecting to like these as much as I do! I mean, if I want Marshall style tone, wouldn't I wan a big watt stack? But these record like dream and fit in the mix like a hand in a glove.
Incredible Range
Awesome capture of the Carr amp. I'd never heard of this amp before but after trying some of the free tones out I purchased the full package. Huge range from clean to crunch to full on lead tones and it takes pedals extremely well. I could do a whole set in my rock band with these captures.
Awesome combination of highly usable sounds
AFter using these sounds for a while I found 3 that really suited my guitar and balanced well with each other in terms of progressive gain/overdrive for clean, crunch and lead. I could use just these sounds and this pedal easily for a complete gig. but there are so many other great sounds if indulgence is required!
Fantastic sound and very versatile
This amp can do beautiful cleans and also crunch and high gain in a very musical way! Until now I had a preset with three different amp models for clean crunch and lead. With this pack I use three different captures of the same amp and it sounds very complete!
My Favorite
I've picked up several tone models here, but this is my current favorite. I wish it had a couple more clean settings, but the one offered is flexible with EQ and gain/volume adjustments. This has a rich, complex rounded tone that is not too bright. It takes pedals well. I love being able to play my guitar through amps I'll never own.
