I’m a believer !
This captured amp is the only one I need now. It’s a great clean pedal platform and it can also rip off the roof with its own gain. I’m running it in the effects loop of my Helix LT and it’s brought new life to that unit!
The TK IMP MKII is one of the most desirable current production amps and we totally understand why.
The amp is voiced towards a Blackface style american tonality, but it has more midrange and sounds less brittle than these classic American amps tend to be. This especially pays off in the crunch and drive department, where this amp shines just as well as with it’s percussive and big sounding cleans that are suprprising for a lower power 6V6 amp.
Both channels are very well voiced, the Rhythm channel being a blackface style tone machine, while the Lead channel goes a bit more into the plexi/tweed style of sound. It is nbigh impossible to set this amp to sound bat – never gets harsh, the tonal focus is right on the guitar frequencies, does not get boomy and the medium gain tones on this one are addictive. One of our all time faves for sure.
The capture set consists of 60 captures of both the Lead and Rhythm channels of the amp, ranging from clean to lead tones. 6 IR’s are included – the amps combo loaded with a g12M65 Creamback and a vintage 1968 MRSH Basketweave 4×12 cab loaded with Pulsonic coned G12M25 75Hz speakers.

Wonderful!
The RH channel is an amazing 65 deluxe reverb variant. Dare I say even better.
A Perfect Match for My PRS Silver Sky SE
As a blues player, I was searching for an amp that could complement my PRS Silver Sky SE, and Amalgam’s captures of the Tone King MKII absolutely delivered. The warmth, clarity, and dynamic response are outstanding – whether I’m dialing in smooth cleans or pushing it into edge of breakup and beyond. The captures maintain the amp’s signature vintage feel. Highly recommended for anyone who loves touch-sensitive, expressive tones!
So much fun.
It's chimey, throaty and so pleasing to the ears. I installed this on my Tonex One 2 days ago, tweaked a few things and I've been playing all day. It's such a big sound too. I'm so grateful to the friend who recommended this.
Very good indeed
This is just superb! Works great with my dirt pedals :)
My favorite amp capture
The clean tones on this are sublime - similar to 60's Blackface Fenders, but I like it even better. And what's awesome is this amp also sounds great when you overdrive it. I own many Amalgam captures, but this is by far my favorite.
Spectacular!
Top ToneX clean tones
Some of the best clean tone captures for ToneX. Very much in the Fender Deluxe Reverb territory, but a classic in its own right.
Just perfect
Just downloaded this amp 2 hours ago Best 15£ I ever spent barely had to adjust the tone at all to get great sound with my EJ Strat. And bonus ! All my dirt pedals sound great with this tone model. Will be purchasing more from amalgam for my Tonex.
Imperial? Yes
It's like you have your amp in the room. From clean to crunch. Works well with pedals in front. Love it.
Amazing
I bought the is capture using the spring sale discount and I don’t regret it at all, I always loved how dynamics tube amps are, and using a QC that’s something really difficult to achieve: well… this capture transforms your QC in a tube amp through and through, it’s amazing
Awesome Fender Sounds
This amp is considered the pinnacle of the Fender sound and is highly praised and sought after. When I was looking for a good useable Fender sound I decided to try these profiles out as I dont have $3500 CDN to buy one. Luckily this profile set sounds incredible. The cleans are sparkling and wonderful. You can do amazing edge of break up and get killer blues tones and rock stuff out of it. It has 2 awesome channels and the less channel has its own mid eq which is found in the profiles. If you're looking for classic sounds this will deliver in spades!
Jazz to Metal With One Set of Profiles
I've told others a bunch of times getting into software based guitar gear to grab a BE100 emulation. The 3 channels will give you almost everything you need to play any music. And I've bought a few plugins over the years that do it well. The captures for NAM here are absolutely top notch and sound amazing. A lot of useable tones for basically any genre. Throw a tubescreamer emulation in front and you can start chugging pretty darn hard. If you're looking for a super versatile set of tones to use for everything from cleans to metal this will make you smile ear to ear with every profile you bring up.
Outstanding!
More great sounds to complement the core set. I especially love the fat tone captures.
Fabulous!
What a fantastic set. Thank you so much. I've aspired to buy - but never played - this amp IRL, but I have a Tone King Falcon. The family resemblance is there for sure, but more importantly these captures are just brilliant sounds in their own right. The balanced and warm ones work so well with my Strat at all the different gain levels. Just spoilt for choice really.
Totally worth it
This expansion pack does a wonderful job of complimenting the Core and Essentials.
Amazing sounds and feel
I’m truly impressed. This is the first set of captures on the Quad Cortex that I’ve actually found to sound great. it only took me a few minutes of tweaking and I’ve got myself amazing sounding tones that have already replaced my old go to presets.
great Capture ....
This amp can go a lot of directions , and all sound stunning
Perfect capture!
I was amazed by the accuracy of the capture pack. All options are covered and the sound is simply fantastic. I spent an entire day rambling through the captures and couldn't decide which ones to select for an initial preset. The whole pack is a bit pricey but in my opinion it's worth the money.
Killer Captures! Love them
These capture are great. Will be purchasing more soon.
One of the best ToneX captures I’ve played yet!!
I’m running this amp ( bright edge of breakup) paired with another amp from these guys tge Jackson Britain 30 one stereo ToneX and it is AMAZING, I play worship guitar mainly and these two are beast paired up!! Great job guys!!
Yesss
This is a great starting point for your rig/pedalboard. Works great with pedals in front. Very transparent and dynamic. Both the clean and drive sounds are very useful. Have to check in band condition, but expectation is high. Must have….
Killer Tone!!
These are really amazing sounding amp captures!!
No brainer for Tonex users
I have a total of 10 different Amalgam packs and they are my go-to sounds for the Tonex, what more do you need to know? I plan to try some of the DI packs for Tonex next. I'm a drummer of over 30 years who recently picked up the guitar so I'm no expert, but I know what sounds good, and these sound great.
The Best Quality Premium Capture
Very good capture (if not the best in the world of Quad Cortex) made with particular care with different master volume and gain equalization settings which therefore provides different voicings to adapt to several styles of music or types of guitars the choice is quite large I really recommend very good work ????
Exceptional TK experience
These DI captures paired with my IR options have opened up some many great tones. So flexible that I can easily recommend this and the TK expansion DI.
Lovely sounding
Lovely sound
Does it get any better than this?
This review is for both the core and the extended set. The Tone King Imperial mkII is a 20 watt boutique amp, and one of the best you can get if you're after vintage Fender tone. The wattage is about the same as a Deluxe Reverb, and the rythm channel of the TK is very similar to that. Lead channel is more like a tweed Deluxe, and with hints of Plexi Marshalls too. As always with Amalgam Audio, these capture sets give you a wide range of gain levels, and a very useful palette of EQ variations. I have never played the original amp, but I do have a Princeton Recording amp, and I have done quite a lot of direct recording with that, running it through IRs from Two-Notes. And the rythm channel of AAs Tone King sounds even better than my Princeton! I also have the Neural DSP Tone King Imperial vst. So I tested these captures side by side with that, matching the settings, running into the same Two-Notes cab. And the result? The AA captures were clearly better. In fact, it was a total wipeout, especially when comparing the driven tweed tones on the lead channels. And NDSP stuff goes for beeing something of the best you can get. So that says a lot about the quality of both NAM and these capture sets. There are two things you don't get in these captures: The reverb and the fantastic bias tremolo of the real amp. For those that want the tremolo, I can highly recomend the Audiority Tube Modulator, as it has both the bias tremolo and also the harmonic tremolo found in larger brownface and blonde Fender amps. And finding a solution for spring reverb is no problem. And if you want to extend the tones even more: Just put a real pedal, or a virtual one before the NAM instance with the amp capture, and it will take anything you throw at it, from boosters to all out fuzz. And of course, it takes any guitar too. Switching from a HB Les Paul to a SC Tele is a breeze, you just need to pick a set with a different EQ, and maybe a different gain level. My verdict: It doesn't get any better than this, unless you have the physical amp. But guess what - you won't need a real amp for recording. At least, I won't, recording at my home studio. If I found myself in a high end recording studio with the real amp, and expensive ribbon and condenser mics and a great tech, then the story could be different. But until that happens: THIS is what I go for! Congratulations with a mighty fine release, Kärlis!

My favorite Fender style amp
This profile covers it all. To me, this is the go to amp to any gig if you still like using your overdrives and fuzz pedals. Outstanding touch sensibility, great options of clean, crunch and drive. And the IR that comes with it’s a perfect match.
If you love Fendersound...
If you love Fendersound, Like me this pack is fantastic, One of my favorites so far.
On another level
I have the QC for 6 months now and I really liked it from the start, but I was blown away with the captures. It really felt like the TK and sounded astounding. All I would could wish for would be artist packs, with captures and presets now. Maybe a Frusciante oder John Mayer pack with captured pedals and presets. But for a capture of the TK there is nothing else i could want. Great sounding and great feeling capture.
Gorgeous
Never played through the actual amp, so I can’t comment on how accurate the profile is, but the clean and edge of breakup sounds are just gorgeous. Sounds and feels like a tube amp. Very dynamic and touch-sensitive. One of the best profiles I’ve experienced for ToneX.
Wish I would have gotten this sooner
First off let me say the customer service is amazing, I made a mistake and bought the ToneX capture thinking it was for QC and they refunded my money before I even noticed! The quality of the profiles are absolutely amazing. I’ve been using free ones available and let me say most are crap and this opened my eyes and shows the full potential of the QC. I will be buying more for sure .
Great sound!
All of these captures sound awesome and authentic. If you are looking for a particular amp sound, rest assured these captures sound like the real deal.
Amazing range of tones
These captures really do justice to this amp, and there is wide range of cleans and drive tones. Superb quality and excellent customer support
Best captures for QC
Incredible captures, the nuances, the accuracy and the touch sensitivity is outstanding compared to all other profiles I have tested so far on the QC. Great work and easily worth the price tag
Nice sounding captures
You get almost every sound you could want from the amp from both channels. The six IRs are a nice additional feature, jamming is fun with them. Also the captures were delivered really fast. I can recommend them.
Very Goob
Tasty and Brighty sounds
Great classic tones!
Plugging a Tele into this sounds like bliss. It is very versatile and dynamic
One amp to do it all!
This set can cover so much (maybe not metal). Can’t beat the sound and feel A+++
Killer Tone King
Love these captures… helps maximize the QC and takes away guess work. On to playing w beautiful tones!
Further Info
i have already left a review here but thought a follow up was important. just upgraded to CorOS 2.0 - with that came some TK captures. i tried the QC Toneking capture and it's very good, for sure. But when compared to this one, it's defimitely not as good. it's actually stunning how much better the Amalgam one sounds - deeper, bigger, wider. So if anyone was on the fence, this is still amazing and better.
Amazing
These just keep getting better. This TK sounds incredible. I just lost myself for an hour in it. Sounds just like the real thing. Must buy
Killed it yet again
Plug in your strat and its instant happy place :) Tones for days and has a real good chance of knocking the Super Reverb off my all time favourite clean tone!
The real deal.
I love the Toneking Imperial II. The captures are truly representive for what makes this a great amp. Also a good showcase for what the Quad Cortex is capable of! Awesome work.
Gorgeous wide array of sounds!
Can get everything from clean to driven. Edge of breakup is awesome as well. This is quickly becoming my favorite model on the QC.
Perfect.
Hi! Just a few words.. I tried the Tone King so far.... and WOW. I did compare against the Neural Plugin version, and your captures + IR totally rules. I thought the plugin version sounded really good until I tried your version. Way more open, without being exagerated. And the dynamics is perfect. I can hear my strats, I mean, really the tone comes true and alive. The presets are at perfect level -18db RMS needed for proper recording. So, what a professionnal product you did. Can't wait to try the others.
Just perfect
I’ve tweaked the supplied presets using the IRs that come with the pack and a bit of room reverb and have been auditioning them through my headphones. This is why I bought a QC! I get to play this wonderful amp for a great price. Every variation of each capture sounds so good. It’s going to take a while to find my favourites. Good work, thanks for making these, I’m looking forward to trying your other captures. Good support too.
Toneking still the king
Really nice captures here.. Own quite a few of these now and keeps getting better! Sings with the Les Paul with a bit of gain, while clear clean tones for the Strat.
clean and crunch, hard to beat
not one of the gainiest sets, but still one of my favourites among clean and edge of breakup. Again In the realm of a thicker fender that stays together well. plenty of captures in that clean/crunch range to find what you need. Very happy with this one
