Our Introduction to the amp

The whole Fender Blackface amp family is iconic, period. With all the talk about the Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb, Twin Reverb and others, it almost seems like the Dual Showman gets rarely mentioned.

Unrightfully so because this  amp has graced the stages of the biggest acts of the 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Notable users include an incredible list: Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, The Beatles, Keith Richards, John Frusciante, Pete Townsend and countless others.

Though a close relative of the Twin Reverb, the Dual Showman sounds distinctively different. It has way less of that prominent scoop and has a much more balanced, full and warm frequency response that results in cleans that will rival any Dumble any day of the week.

This amp has endless headroom reserves and delivers an incredible punch. It has a depth that the Twin Reverb does not achieve and will sound great with any kind of pickups.

If you are looking for the best Blackface clean tones around – this amp is the ticket. If you want a great platfrom for you pedals – the Dual Showman has you covered. If you want an amp that mixes well together with others in a dual amp setup – this might be the best option out there. There is a reason why Hendrix, Page, Gilmour, Frusciante and many others have used it as a part of their dual or multi-amp setups.

Don’t be fooled by the clean-talk – the Normal channel will crunch up into a beautiful, strong crunch tone that is fuller and bolder sounding than the other Blackface Fender options.

It is obvious why so many of the greats are on the user list – it is an extremely powerful, versatile tool that excels at pretty much any discipline.

The set features 25 full captures that were recorded through the Fender 2X12 cab with Jensen C12N speakers. The mics used were 2x Royer R121, a Beyerdynamic M160 and a Neumann U87. Please refer to the full list of included captures in the product photo section.

Great Blackface cleans and more versatile than a Twin!

We were begging for a straightforward Fender Twin capture from AMG for a long time, and got one. But, actually, some of my favorite Fender tones from Amalgam can be found in more obscure amps, and the Dual Showman might be one of my favorites. The clean captures sound full and huge, but the Edge and Crunch captures offer surprisingly good driven tones, especially compared to some of the other Fender amps, which do one thing well and other things just okay. Really impressed with this amp I was not too familiar with, and love how Amalgam takes amps that are rare, expensive, or impractical for most people to use, and makes them accessible for any volume or playing situation.

I like John Frusciante stratocaster clean sound most. And i know, he use exactly the same amp during recording sessions for masterpiece "Californication". You nailed it, Karlis. Just amazing.
