Phenomenal!
Great for Van Halen Tones. Made a great National Anthem setting with this amp paired with a York Audio Marshall 4x12 IR
The PV 5050 amp has been developed in collaboration of Peavey with the legendary Eddie Van Halen after he had been using an SO100 for some time. Naturally the 5050 finds lots of inspiration from the SO100 amp, but there were numerous significant changes that made it into a beast of its own, one of the more important hcanges being an extra gain stage.
As a result this amp is slightly more compressed and smoother, less aggressive, while keeping a similar timbre. It has gobs of gain and has been among the most used modern amps and has become extremely popular between artists of various heavy genres.
The Clean/Crunch channel on this one is also far away from being an afterthought – lots of nice tones to be had here too.
The set includes 20 AMP+CAB and 2 DI Tone Models ranging from clean to lead. Three Tone Models with pedals are also included featuring the following pedals: 808, MRSH BSB, RAT.

Crazy Accurate!
This is the one! I A/B’d it with my 92 PV through a Mesa cab and they are scary close. So happy to have a PA option with the same feel and tone!
Really loved it!
Spectacular!
Really nice capture with lots of definition. I enjoy it and will try it at live gigs for sure.
Must have for a PV Fan
I use this Capture mainly for high-gain Sounds in the Metal and 80s genres. It also has Captures for Rock, of course. The Amp has a massive low end where you have to be careful not to get clipping. Luckily, with the Tonex you can get everything under control using a Post-Compressor, the Depth control, and the Bass control. I'm not that keen on the Captures with the 808 in front. In my opinion, there are better-suited Drives in front of them. But that's a matter of taste. What sets all Amalgam Captures apart is that, even with FRFR speakers, they sound almost like a real Amp and Cab combination. Good Job!
My best Tonex sound for metal guitar !!!
absolutely amazing
Please note first that I‘ve used only the DI parts of the rigs and combined them with my own IRs in studio. For me the liquid Kemper packs are amazing. They are extensive, very versatile, sound great and in combination with my IRs it feels like playing the real amp. The documentation is also very good. They are absolutely worth the price. Double thumb up from my side. I want definitely more.
Perfect
Perfectly captures this metal giant. Every tone is incredible.
For Any Rock and Metal Genre
You can play any rock and metal genre with these captures. But the real fun for me is with the PV 5050 II Lead2 BAL BSB CAB2 capture. It's a deep, aggressive, high octane gain capture that just begs to be played loud.
too saturated, too many highs (presence)
I honestly expected less profiles with pedals and more amp-only profiles also because I don't think the amplifier needs pedals to boost the signal. Everything seems too saturated to me, and with too many highs (presence) and few mids. Maybe it's the nature of the amp, or maybe it's just me who hates sounds that are too unbalanced on high frequencies.
The best
