STONE 1848

STONE 1848

15.00

This is one of the quirkiest amps we’ve worked with. It is waht we would call a shabby chic tone. When going beyound clean tones ,it always sounds somewhat fuzzy, eve nwith the bass turned low. But this is not where it sounds best.

This amp shines with the bass rather high (arguably verging on too high for many pickups and pickup positions) and a bridge pickup of a single coil or Humbucker guitar. It has a very gnarly and characterful tone that on itself reaches mild fuzz territory.

To our surprise it takes a big clean boost in front like a champ, this is actually where it really delivers feroucious fat and fuzzy tones reminescent of the White Stripes era of Jack White. It also takes fuzz pedals and pedals that ar fuzzy really well.

Though this is definitely not amogn our morst versatile amps, surprizingly it actually delivers really nice clean tones, especially on Channel I.

This is by no means the usual bread and butter amp you want to play every day, but when you want an amp with gobs of character and attitude, you’d be hard pressed to find a better match.

It is by nature an amp that sounds best with the bass quite high, lowering it loses a lot of the likeable character of it. You can easily compensate for this with the ToneX EQ – bass and depth dials will take you a long way to dialing it in. WIthout tweaks it best works with bridge pickups and is primarily what it is meant for.

Vibey Vibe Vibe

The Stone 1848 does the nasty indie/blues/rock thing, as hoped for, and also works very well with weird modulating and reverb effects. It also instills a cool retro vibe to more modern effects which I very much enjoy.

Surprisingly Versatile

I know many are saying it’s not an “everyday amp” but man this thing takes pedals extremely well and has a lot of throaty character, stands out in a mix. There’s a big reason bands use this in the studio!!

Quirky and fun set that gets a ton of use

This one and the Supro are the odd balls that constantly see use.  The Fuzz profile is fat and killer one of my favorite profiles period.  Its nice to have some sounds that aren't typical bread and butter sounds.  They layer beautifully and add dimension in a song.  Highly recommend giving them a shot.

Great colour

Never heard this amp but It's safe to assume that Amalgam nailed it. Nice colour to tuck in here and there.

Excellent Lo-Fi 1484 tones!

The Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve sound isn't for everyone, but this capture does a really nice job with an amp that seems to be difficult to recreate with modelers and IR's. It is bass-heavy, but you can dial that out with Tonex. Appreciate that it offers useful clean, edged, and driven tones, and the selected pedals sound great with it.
