This little amp packs a surprising punch, especially when miked up. It has a slightly dark, bold, punchy an a bit rude character that goes well together with the built in P12R speaker.

It has a big low-end punch that holds together surprisingly well until decent crunch levels, where it especially excells in our view. In fact this amp delivers some of our favorite crunch tones from any amp. It has a very nice compression and a smooth feel on single note runs and a nice, round punchy attack on chords. Characterful clean and Edge of breakup tones and with an EQ or pedal in front it forks out beautiful drive and lead tones.

We consider it to be a “character amp”, meaning for most it might not be a daily driver, but on the other hand the character of this one is so musical and balanced between quirky and usable that it might as well become a daily driver.

It takes boosts and pedals phenomenally well and it quickly has become one of our favorite, if not THE favorite amp for crunch and driven tones, battling for the first spot with the mighty Super Bass.

Marvelous!

One of my first amps as a kid was a Gibson. I’ve missed since then. This amp is all over my new productions. It’s absolutely fantastic.

Small and Huge

This is my go-to for cranked small amp sounds. The included speaker capture pairs perfectly. It is boxy and raspy in the best possible way. From early electric blues to fuzzed out garage rock, this capture has tons on character and style.

Fantastic

Hi, I have 90% of the capturs from Amalgam Audio. I also have everything pack from Tone J for Kemper and Quad, some from Michael B. and some from Bert M. I prefer capturs with a guitar cabinet as close as possible to the natural, non-invasive sound straight from the microphones. The latest esential capturs from Amalgam are simply brilliant. Matchless Phonenix and Mesa Mark IV are my favorites. I like simple sounds with a bit of reverb and compressor. You can feel that it is a guitar combo with one 112 speaker or a guitar cabinet with 412 speakers. You get a round guitar treble with the natural expected bass, and what distinguishes each amplifier is the midrange, which is preserved fantastically depending on the amplifier. Captures are made in a very modern way, similar to York audio (guitar speakers). The bass and treble are not cut out immediately for the studio mix, but are left naturally like a real boost. If you want the best possible reproduction of your amplifier and your own live or studio processing, Amalgam captors are just for you. I already have my favorite amplifiers, but I still buy everything Amalgam puts out. I recommend Amalgam whenever and wherever I can. Worth the price.

A Raunchy Little Beast

Pior to AA's capture I didn't know this amp. I tried it and could not stop smiling. This has become my favourite amp at the moment for raunchy rock n' roll riffs. These CRUNCH (yes, caps intended) tones are defined by rich, punchy character and a body full of swagger. The INST Drive BRI CAB has become my go to capture for my PRS when I feel that appetite for destruction rising.
