I’ve been often asked about really CLEAN clean tones. Most amps don’t sound their best when really clean with a handful of exceptions – Ampeg Gemini series and Deluxe Reverb come to mind. But exceptions are proof for the norm.

 

For most amps it is best to dial them in for their sweet-spot where they start to breath and then just lower the level of the signal that is fed into them if you want KLEAN cleans.

 

This amp was specifically built to perform its best at cleans. It is the punchiest, cleanest, most noise-free, boldest and most detailed clean tone i’ve heard so far and that comes from a guy who has tried all the small and big Fenders as well as Two-Rock, Matchless, Hiwatt, etc.

 

The headroom on this thing is incredible – it stays totally clean by guitar tube amp standards until about 5 on the volume, at which point it is really loud, dynamic, touch sensitive, very lively and you hear some musical saturation.

 

It is a true Class A design and therefore the 4x 6L6 tubes deliver “only” about 35-50W of power in true Class A and Class AB settings. The Class AB setting changes the bias and increases the power, but it is not a full-on Class AB mode.

 

The amp was built as a special order by Fēlikss Staņēvičs (Felix Stanevich) and Mārtiņš Saulspurēns (Martins Saulspurens) – both masterminds that built the now iconic Blue Microphone brand from ground up, where Felix was the Lead Engineer.

 

This amp won’t do pretty overdrive – it does only clean, but some of the best clean that you will ever encounter. So if really KLEAN clean tones are your jam, don’t miss this one out.

Excellent clean tones from an amp virtually nobody owns!

This is really nice capture pack that offers something unique from what everybody else is using, but familiar enough to use in place of your favorite vintage/boutique combo amp. While it's unlikely to sell as much as something with "Fender" or "Two-Rock" in the name, I think it's of my favorite clean amps offered, and NO other pack offers this variety of EQ variations for strictly clean tones (33 captures, in all!). The Amber has a fullness that is in the ballpark of a Deluxe Reverb, but the EQ changes are different enough that I wouldn't compare it any one amp. Because the amp stays clean at volume, this pack is excellent as a pedal platform. If you want a thicker sound for your drive pedal, use a FAT or SCP capture. If you want a brighter or thinner sound, there are options for that too. However, my favorite trick is to run presets with the input gain in the 7.5 to 8.5 range. Doing so gives this "clean" amp a very attractive light-overdrive tone, similar to how someone would run a "transparent overdrive" pedal into a Twin or Deluxe. And, of course, you could drive that even further with a hard-clipping distortion pedal. No shortness of low end on this amp, so if you notice that, consider rolling offer BASS or DEPTH to 4.0 or 3.5 and it'll sound great. Great pack!
