There have been many takes on the Slash tone, and i nparticular the AFD era, but one of the quickest and straight forward ways that will get you there is the Slash Signature AFD100 amp by Marshall, which was produced for only one year in 2011.

This will deliver you the searing, bright and stringy tones heard on so many Slash’s records with ease. THIS is the thing that the amp is meant to do and oh boy does it deliver. For that bright, gained up, mean hot rodded Marshall thing it is hard to imagine anything else that does it better.

Our capture set that is based on this amp captures both modes – the 34 and the even gainier AFD mode.

It is NOT a versatile amp if you approach it by typical standards – it has no (usable) clean tones to speak of in the sense that it thins out and sounds harsh if you dial it in for clean sounds. But you will get glorious cleans, when dialing back yourt guitars volume pot, while being on a flat out screaming hot rodded Marshall setting with the guitar volume full up.

This is a must-have amp, if you are into Guns n Roses, Slash tones and 70’s style hard rock in general – simply an iconic tone.

The capture set features 28 full captures and the amp was captured through a 1968 Marshall 1982B 4X12 cab with original G12H55Hz Celestion Speakers with Pulsonic cones.  See a full list of included captures in the product picture section.

Incredible!

Slash’s AFD tone is something Ive chased for a long time and never quite got there. I got to play the Marshall AFD100 when it released back in 2011, but it was way out of my price range at the time, but we have these captures for €25, wow! These captures are brilliant, absolutely loving them, haven’t stopped playing since i got them. Awesome! ????

Speechless

I was an owner of the AFD100 when it came out, but sold it for some reason (i was young). These captures are insane! My Monitor Speakers are Focal Alpha 65's and just playing the presets which coming with this purchase the sound is unbelievable. I'm a huge Slash fan, and chased his sound for a long time back then. These captures are bringing back memories and you don't need anything to dial in correctly for sounding like him. They're also great for all 80's hairmetal/hardrock and a great starting point for every rock or even metal. I'm really impressed and i'm not even through all of these captures or built a specific preset with fx with them cause i was just jamming through all UYI and AFD songs with the Stock preset. Great Job guys! PS: you made me wanting to buy an AFD100 again, tanks :)

This is the one (for me)

After buying many Marshall captures chasing the elusive ‘Slash tone’ I thought I’d got close with a Silver Jubilee, but this has given me the last 10% with a tighter bottom end and a beautiful mid range ring. Your captures really are top notch and this to my ears has a real amp in the room sound , nice work guys, fingers crossed you do a Slash Magnatone capture in the future.

Best catch I've heard so far

I've tested several other captures and so far the Amalgam one is the best I've ever played. Even better than those made by Ik Multimedia. I highly recommend watching Fábio's YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ5xFWaQhVY), because there he does some tests and what surprised me the most were the tones with just the amp. I highly recommend this capture. In fact, all of the ones made by Amalgam are excellent! Congratulations on your work!

An instant favourite

I'm going through a bit of a 'Slash' phase at the moment, so I have his pups in my Les Paul, and have tried a number of models and captures to get as close to the sound as possible. I'm not a total purist, I haven't done extensive research on the AFD amp, and listened to recordings of people playing it etc, but I do think I have a good ear for what sounds 'good'. And these sound GOOD. Really good. I'm impressed by how much variety in tone you can get with just one of these captures and rolling of the volume knob on the guitar, and I haven't stopped playing with these captures since I got them - an instant favourite for me, and they sound great through any guitar

Different than the other Marshall captures - good and bad

I was very pleased to see this capture added to the library, but I need more time with it to decide if it will be one of my favorites or not. I did some additional research on the amp to understand what I was hearing - there are two channels - the "34" is based on a heavily modified Marshall and the "AFD" is supposedly based on Slash's "Appetite for Destruction" tone. In reading some reviews of the real-life amp, the AFD100 is described as thin and bright, though the channels are EQ'ed quite differently from one another. Anyway, the capture is true to that, and time will tell if it ends up being one of my preferred Marshall tones

Excellent!

I have an Epiphone 59VOS with the custombuckers in it, these captures are exactly as advertised. I have the Nano Cortex running through my FM9 that i use for effects, and I can tell you that when the amp/cab sound this good you don't need much for effects!
